• Dont Panic
• Make a list of all the resources at your disposal
• Prepare a comprehensive CV - resist the urge to constantly update your CV, you can use your covering letter to tailor any application or make changes relevant to specific roles.
• Double check your CV for spelling, grammar, accuracy
• Get someone else to read it for you
• Select 2/3 specialist agencies who can help you register & establish that they can (see our guide to selecting a recruitment consultancy)
• Set up search agents on relevant job  boards
• Read trade press and apply for relevant client direct ads
• Maintain a routine -build set activities into your day
• Set some challenges and use this time wisely
• Don't spend all day job hunting, use the time to do something else as well for example volunteering locally
• Network - keep in touch with your old colleagues
• Stay in touch with the industry - attend relevant  events
• Be flexible
• Be open to relocation, sideways moves, salary cuts, short term contracts, working abroad
• Be prepared to make an investment in retraining if relevant
• Be positive
